Planning


We are early in the planning process. The time line below is an estimate of likely progress and may change as planning progresses.

Stage 1 Development Application

The first stage is the development of the Stage 1 Development Application which proposes the master planning layout and development envelope for the site. This includes early principles for the new community facilities and public through site links. It is not intended to be an architectural response on the design, material and landscaping concepts.

June 2019 – The final Stage 1 Development Application is lodged and placed on public exhibition by City of Sydney for comment.

Following the close of the public exhibition period all submissions received are provided to us for consideration and response.

Stage 2 Development Application

The final approved Stage 1 Development Application will inform the development of design concepts for the buildings, structures and landscaping on site.

A Design Excellence Competition will be undertaken to inform the development proposal and Stage 2 Development Application.

The successful designer will work with the project team, and Council to further develop the winning concept for preparation of a Stage 2 Development Application.

The final Stage 2 Development Application will then be lodged and placed on public exhibition for comment.

Following the close of the public exhibition period all submissions received are provided to us for consideration and response.

Construction is expected to commence following approval of the Stage 2 Development Application including any conditions of approval.

Construction

Feedback received during the planning process would inform the preparation of construction management plans to minimise disruption wherever possible.

We are committed to ongoing communications and engagement with our neighbours and the community would be kept informed in the lead up to the commencement of any work on site and during construction.

We are in the early stages of the planning process. This first stage is the development of the site’s possible master planning layout and development envelope. Part of this process is understanding the site opportunities and its constraints to inform the possible location of building uses, public links, open space and relationship to existing neighbours. 

The first planning approval process is lodgement of the Stage 1 Development Application. The application will be assessed by the City of Sydney Council and placed on public exhibition for comment.

Prior to finalising and lodging the development application, we would like to hear feedback from our neighbours and stakeholders about the proposal and what should be considered as the project progresses into detailed planning.

You can also come along to a community information and feedback session on Tuesday 4 June at the Ultimo Community Centre. We welcome you to drop-in anytime between 5.30pm and 7.30pm to learn more and speak with members of the project team.
